Our stupid discourse

Here’s Montel Williams, making sense on the subject of press coverage of Heath Ledger versus coverage of troops killed in Iraq.

According to this post on daily Kos, from which I lifted this idea,

Three minutes into this awkward segment on Fox, one host cut off Montel in order to go to a commercial. Montel did not return after the break. Four days later, after 17 years as a television host, Montel lost his job.

Speaking of Fox and its hamhanded style of shaping discourse, here’s a clip on their klunky transparent fluffy of the candidacy of Rudy Giuliani. Man, this is Soviet-style propaganda, about as subtle as a freight train. Maybe if they had been a little less strident they would have been more successful.

Or maybe Rudy’s just such an asshole that not even Republican voters would fall for his schtick.
