Wetmachine is the group blog of John Sundman, Gary Gray, Harold Feld, Howard Stearns, David Newsom, Greg Rose, and sundry other persons whose names will appear here if they ever post enough entries to merit a name on the door (until which time they shall be neutrino wetmachiners and you should count yourself blessed if you see one of their postings, which are like unto shooting stars in their rarity and ability to bring good luck).

We write about, mostly, the nexus of technology and social policy in the USA, although we also write about technoparanoia, software, publishing, politics, popular culture, and random bullshit. Sundman and Gray, in particular, are leaders in the "random bullshit/technoparanoia" category.

The name "Wetmachine" is meant to signify some kind of creepy biodigital convergence of brains ("wetware") and hardware and software, although how the name was arrived at has been lost in the proverbial foggy mists of time. You are free to mentally associate the word "wetmachine" with a very tasteful porn site, although we don't actually do porn here.

What we wetmechanics used to have in common was that we were all either Sundman or somebody known to him & invited by him. Since then the field has enlarged somewhat such that what we now have in common is that we all post on wetmachine.
